Public invited to International College ceremony and picnic

The public is invited to attend a flagpole dedication and picnic at International College on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at 11:45 a.m. The flagpole and plaque will dedicated in memory of Sept. 11 victims. A 40-foot flagpole will fly a 10 by 15 foot American flag 24 hours a day. The flag will be illuminated at night and visible to passing motorists on Interstate 75. The Collier County Sheriff's Office will present the flag and the Barron Collier High School Ceremonial Band will perform. The ceremony includes remarks by Lt. Col. Arthur Klobe, (retired), 1st U.S. Army, staff officer to General Omar Bradley during World War II. He will be introduced by Peter Thomas, decorated World War II veteran and nationally-known narrator of PBS documentaries. A picnic featuring American fare will immediately follow the dedication. International College in Naples is at the intersection of Interstate 75 and Immokalee Road, just east of the Exit 17 interchange off I-75. Call 513-1122.
