New Art Exhibit for International College's Falciglia Gallery
The Falciglia Gallery at International College in Naples will host a special reception with Artist Julie Marie Muriel Nédélec, 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., April 6, 2006.
"Borderland of Existence" is the theme for Nédélec's unveiling of new works of art which will be on exhibit at the gallery throughout the entire month of April.
Born in Marseille, France, Nédélec was initially exposed to painting through her artist father who had his own studio. Her unique artistic ingenuity proved evident early in youth. At the age of 12, she achieved notoriety as Marseille's Best Young Artist. Though music and dance preoccupied much of Nédélec's early studies (and passions), she eventually began attending classes in drawing and ceramics at the Beaux Arts of Perpignan in France.
In 1997, in order to be closer to several relatives that reside in Naples, Nedelec moved to Florida and ultimately launched her own mural, decorative painting business - Artisan's Studio and Design LLC. Today, Nédélec divides much of her time between Naples and London, England, where she completes commissioned art for a variety of clients.
As an abstract painter, Né000dé111lec confesses that she often begins a painting without knowledge as to what the painting will become."Abstract expression is an adventure, gnashing and surprising at the same time," says Nedelec.
"My intention is to create a relationship between the viewer and the artwork; a relationship that is nurtured not by what the viewer sees, but what the viewer feels. I'm not trying to create a pretty landscape or images of pretty flowers; I'm trying to stir emotions."
She adds that the new exhibit is a reflection of her exploration into the nature of things, suggesting the art serves as a visual equivalent for moods, half remembered dreams and sensations. "All these culminate from a realm I recognize as the borderland of existence," says the artist.
