International College Announces New Director for Center of Lifelong Learning Program
International College announces Meredith Doupé as the new director of its Center for Lifelong Learning Program (formerly the Creative Retirement Center).
Doupé, who earned a master’s degree in Social work with an emphasis in Gerontology and Management, understands the needs of CLL members and plans to increase the quality and quantity of courses, as well as grow membership.
“To be given the opportunity to shape a program that supports meaningful involvement for older adults is absolutely thrilling,” Doupé said. “I believe I have acquired the skills necessary to balance program development and coordination, as well as market and fund-raise for the program in order to help facilitate its growth and continued success.”
Doupé has three years of experience in the fields of gerontology and management. Doupé has served with Alzheimer’s Association in St. Louis, MO., and also with OASIS, a national nonprofit educational organization that offers programs in the arts, humanities, wellness, technology, and volunteer services for older adults to continue their personal growth. Most recently, Doupé was a medial social worker for Naples Community Hospital. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Miami and a Master of Social Work from Washington University.
Future plans for Doupé include increasing corporate sponsorship for the program, establishing a membership & curriculum committee, and enhancing recruitment efforts through the aid of current CLL members.
Through this unique CLL program, which is a member of Elderhostel, adults of all ages have the opportunity to learn more about various subjects including art, religion, history, politics, and music. There are no exams or grades. Programs are held at International College and Moorings Park. Annual membership is $125 with no additional course fees.
The Center will begin offering courses on October 25. Registration begins on October 4. There are approximately 300 members in the program. For a complete listing of fall courses, call Meredith Doupé at 513-1122, Ext. 133, or visit the website at www.internationalcollege.edu
