Hodges University will hold its winter 2012 English as a Second Language (ESL) graduation ceremonies on April 23 for its Ft. Myers students, and on April 24 for Naples campus students. Both events begin at 10am. Delivering the keynote address to both classes with be Leonardo Garcia, President and Founder of the Hispanic American Business Alliance (HABA).
According to Leisha Klentzeris, Director of the ESL program at Hodges, graduation is always an emotional event. “When you know how far they have come in such a short time, this ceremony is quite inspirational,” said Klentzeris. “They work so hard and are extremely dedicated, using the program to achieve a variety of personal goals. I am so proud of each and every one of them. We are honored to have Mr. Garcia offer words of encouragement to the students, and as someone whose native language was not English, I’m sure the students will find his story very motivational.”
Students currently enrolled in the program hail from over 20 different countries, and often use the ESL program to matriculate into other classes at Hodges. For this term, over 260 students have graduated from the intensive program.
