The Academic Committee of Hodges University has named Michael Calderon the student of the month for April. Michael is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Health Studies degree and hopes to graduate in the fall of 2016. His career goal is to become an anesthesiologist.
Born in Somerville, NJ, he moved to Naples in 1999 and currently lives with his parents and younger brother. He graduated from Gulf Coast High School and immediately enrolled at Hodges.
Michael enjoys his coursework at Hodges. “Since coming to Hodges, my life has revolved around school,” he says. “I spend numerous hours on homework and as a result I have made the Dean’s list for every semester that I have been attending Hodges. The students and staff have made this an unforgettable academic journey, and I look forward to accompanying my colleagues on graduation day.”
Michael also finds time to participate in outdoor physical activities such as playing soccer and saltwater fishing.
Michael’s favorite class at HU has been Chemistry 1 with Lab. “While the class was overwhelming at times, I gained an astonishing amount of knowledge and reached academic heights that I once thought impossible,” he said. “An individual’s academic education is a priceless attribute.”
As the student of the month, Michael will receive a formal letter with the nomination comments for his portfolio, files, a certificate and a $100 tuition credit.
