Tina Beesler Named International College June 2004 Student of the Month
North Fort Myers resident Tina Beesler has been named the International College June student of the month.
Beesler, 33, is a Criminal Justice major pursuing a bachelor’s degree. She has been named to the Dean’s List four times since enrolling at International College in summer 2002.
Twelve years ago, Beesler attended a private school for secretarial studies, earning a certificate. After a long hiatus, she decided to pursue a bachelor’s degree. A co-worker told Beesler about International College and its unique scheduling for working adults.
“The evening and online courses at International College were ideal for my work schedule,” said Beesler, who works as a legal assistant for a law firm in Cape Coral, and who has two sons, ages 8 and 11. “Initially, the idea of going back to school was overwhelming, until I realized that International College offered the criminal justice program in an accelerated format. I didn’t want my studies to take me away from my children. They need their mother.”
Criminal Justice Professor Joan Fowler nominated Beesler.
“Tina has been in several of my classes and has aced them all. She is a class leader who organizes study groups for all the students’ benefit,” Fowler said. “In addition, she is a very nice person and a single parent who works full time. I have the utmost respect for Tina as she pursues a degree.”
Beesler said she is grateful for the nomination. She plans on continuing her education by either pursuing a law degree or master’s degree in criminal justice.
“Balancing everything has been quite challenging, but it all seems to be working out very well. I put God first and make Him my priority. He brings balance into my life in every area,” Beesler said. “I’m very enthusiastic and take my education very seriously. I also try to promote other people’s success in the classroom. Overall, I’m enjoying my college experience.”
