2002 Rare Book Road Show Fact Sheet
WHAT: Local and national experts will appraise rare, antique and fine books. Private book collectors, dealers and library professionals will lead presentations and workshops. Los Angeles Rare Books and Manuscripts Dealer Lee Biondi will be the Keynote Speaker at the luncheon.
WHEN/WHERE: Saturday, July 20, from 9a.m. to 5 p.m. at International College, 2655 Northbrooke Drive, Naples, at the intersection of Immokalee Road and Interstate 75.
EVENTS: Appraisals will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appraisals will be conducted by Steven Eisenstein, A Book-A-Brac-Shop, Miami Beach; Bill Wickham, Wickham Books, Naples; Lee Biondi, Ferrini & Biondi, Los Angeles; William Chrisant, Midwest Auction Galleries and Cleveland Antiquarian Books; and John Berryman, Sandra and John Berryman Fine Books, Ormond Beach. Appraisals must be accompanied by a paid admission ticket. PRESENTATIONS:
*9:15 to 10:15 a.m. – Sam Boldrick, special collections librarian, Miami Dade Public Library : “Care of Special/Rare Materials.”
*10:15 to 11:15 a.m. – Oleksandra Vedenko, Holy Theotokos Monastery, North Fort Myers : “Restoration of Art Graphics in the Book.”
*11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. – Arthur Dunkelman, Curator, Jay I Kislak Foundation, Miami: “How Much is it Worth – Establishing Value: Establishing Value When Everything Is For Sale. A Curator’s Tour of the Tools and Methods Used to Establish Value.”
*Keynote Luncheon. 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. – Lee Biondi, Ferrini & Biondi, Los Angeles: “Writing and the Mind of Man: Collecting Manuscripts and Printed Books in the Electronic Age.”
*2 to 3:30 p.m. – John Berryman, Sandra and John Berryman Fine Books, Ormond Beach: “Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: What People Should Collect.”
*3:30 to 4:30 p.m. – John Ingram, director of special collections, University of Florida: “Special Collections in the 21st Century University Research Library.”

Ticket A: Admission to the morning and afternoon speaker presentations is $15 and includes two free book appraisals. No pre-registration is needed.
Ticket B: Admission to the keynote speaker presentation is an additional $30 and includes lunch but not the book appraisals. Pre-registration is required. Call 513-1122 for more information.
Additional appraisals beyond those included in Ticket A price are an additional charge set by the appraiser. Lunch and keynote presentation tickets must be paid in advance. All other tickets may be purchased at the door.
