January 2013 Student of the Month
My name is Barbara Novak, and I was born in Lima, Peru. I am the mother of three amazing daughters; Sarah who is 12 years old, Isabella, who is 6 years old, and Sofia who is 5 years old. In my spare time I like to be with my family, and taking family trips to Blue Ridge, Georgia. I enjoy living in Southwest Florida, and I believe there is so much to do for our community. I am currently working towards a bachelor of Health Studies and it is my desire to become a Physician’s Assistant. Currently, I hold a position as president for the Allied Health Club. I am very pleased with the support provided by Hodges University, faculty, and the club members as well.
I enjoy reading, scrap booking, and volunteering as an HU Ambassador.
Why did you choose Hodges University?
I received excellent recommendations for Hodges from a family member who is currently working towards a Bachelor of Criminal Justice.
What do you like best about Hodges University?
I really appreciate all the opportunities Hodges University has provided for me. I truly enjoy being part of clubs and organizations, and I believe academic skills are of the utmost importance. Knowledge is the key component to accomplishing personal goals, however it is equally important to give back to the community. Being involved in the community is an essential element for future success. I have been able to balance these two components with continuous support provided by Hodges University, and I am a proud and grateful student of this institution.
What is your favorite class at Hodges University and why?
My most inspirational course was Algebra with Professor Beverly Hall. When I enrolled in this class, I thought I was going to fail. Professor Hall helped me gain self-confidence. She encouraged my strengths and helped me overcome my weaknesses. To her, I owe my dedication, and honor her faith in me by achieving my purpose as a student. Thank you again for believing in me when I did not in myself.
Previous college/educational experience:
Edison College, Paralegal Studies.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to Dr. Carlene Harrison for nominating me as student of the month. Her continuous support with the Allied Health Club has been appreciated and honorable. She has been a role model in my life and in my educational career. It is an honor to be an example for other students, and I hope to see other classmates receiving this award. I want to extend my hope to all the students here at Hodges University. We are the best and I believe we will all succeed in our future goals. Congratulations to all of us.
